There are many sacks on the market classed as "biodegradable". They're actually oxo-degradable plastic that merely breaks down into small flakes.
As well as contributing to microplastic pollution, "biodegradable" sacks are also;
â–ªï¸ An environmental risk to soil and marine life
â–ªï¸ Not suitable for heavy or sharp waste
â–ªï¸ Not suitable for reuse
â–ªï¸ Not recyclable
â–ªï¸ Not compostable
Put simply, oxo-degradable plastic (or "biodegradable") is much more harmful to the environment than kind.
Tiaga sacks have as little environmental impact as possible while retaining the performance of PE sacks.
Here's how:
Made from one of the most recyclable plastics.
Our Tiaga black sacks are made with 100% post-consumer recycled LDPE plastic, while our clear sacks contain a minimum of 90% recycled content. Although it is not currently feasible to create 100% recycled clear PE plastic due to its complex production process, our clear sacks come as close to this goal as possible.
Recycled cardboard boxes.
Tiaga sacks come in cardboard boxes made from 100% recycled paper pulp - so no trees need to be cut down to package the goods.
Minimal transport emissions.
As of June 2023, all Tiaga sacks will be on rolls - minimising the transport CO2 footprint because the boxes can be smaller, so less space is required for your deliveries.
Tiaga sacks are shipped direct from the importer to the end-user site - minimising transport CO2 footprint by cutting down excess pallet transport network usage within the UK.
A neat storage solution.
Tear-off sacks on rolls are easier to transport between sites, store on site and share between cleaners.
