Forever Microfibre Cloth - Eco-Friendly
Plastic microfibre pollution is an issue that needs addressing, and Foremost are assisting in combatting the problem.
Microfibre cloth is not made nor broken down in an eco-friendly way. They are made of plastic fibres derived from crude oil or natural gas.
These fragments may be tiny, but they cause harm to our ecosystem, as marine life swallows them, causing injury or death. The microplastics are consumed into the bellies of fish, and then they eventually will end up in our own stomachs as we eat the fish ourselves.
Clothes can be made out of microfibre, but these pieces of clothing pose the same risk as cloths or towels. When laundered, clothes made from microfiber leak microplastics into the washing machine water; this water inevitably makes its way into local waterways and it brings these dangerous microplastics along with it. In the environment, these microplastics can harm animals, cause pollution, and leach out dangerous chemicals.
Forever Cloths by Foremost.
When cleaning contractors use microfibre cloths, they quickly get soiled and need cleaning. Rather than the cleaners washing them at home, or even throwing them away, Foremost are now offering a laundring service.
When a cloth becomes soiled, the cleaner will wring the cloth out and place in a bag ready for collection. Foremost will collect these bags at the same time as regular deliveries (ensuring no additional carbon emissions are released!), and return the soiled cloths to our facility where they will be sustainably washed, re-packaged and sold again as re-used cloths.
To ensure we are not polluting the water systems, we have installed very fine micro filters onto the washing machines we use at our facility. Nothing gets past the Foremost filtration!
